Our Savior Lutheran Third Graders Travel to Plymouth, MA

For a short time today, we were Pilgrims on the Mayflower. We saw what it was like to to travel for many weeks in the hold of a ship that was not meant for travelers.

We learned about the hardships that the Pilgrims experienced as they were tossed about on the Mayflower and what they put up with all of this so that they could worship God the way that they wanted.

We learned that the Pilgrims were headed for Virginia, but because of storms their boat was thrown off course and landed on Plymouth Rock in what is now Massachusetts.

We wrote about our trip to Plymouth and added our page to our scrapbooks.

Then we started to color Pilgrims to put on our timeline in the back of our room.

Third Graders Visit Mt. Washington in New Hampshire

Our next stop was New Hampshire and Mt. Washington.

It was a chilly 16 degrees, snowy and windy on Mt. Washington. We learned that Mt. Washington was the tallest peak in the Northeast Region and that Mt. Washington is part of the Appalachian Mountain range.

One time a long time ago the wind speed reached 238 mph. Wow that is windy.

After our trip we once again worked on our scrapbooks.

Third Graders Visit West Quoddy Head, Maine

We were ready. We boarded the train. We were off to West Quoddy Head, the furthest point east in the USA.

The weather was rainy and only 46 degrees, but we learned a lot. We heard the fog horn and saw the light house that was built in 1858.

After we got back we got out our scrapbooks and wrote about our trip.

We also had a treat of Maine Wild Blueberry Muffins. Yummy!

Third Graders Start Their Year Long Trip

Tomorrow is a big day in third grade at OSL. We start our trip through the five regions of the United States. We will begin at West Quoddy Head in Lubec, Maine in the Northeast Region.

We will continue through the NE Region states, via a train, making stops in New Hampshire, Massachusetts,New York, Pennsylvania, and Washington D.C.
